Micromax has been working on its top secret project named ‘Project Caesar’ for quite a long now. It recently revealed that it has crowd-sourced its second CyanogenMOD based smartphone name. Project Caesar will be now be called Yuphoria, a name chosen through India’s first ever crowd-sourced smartphone-naming campaign #YUNameIt. Expanding over the span of 7 days, the campaign reflected YU’s core credo- ‘YUPlayGod’, and threw the decision ball in the consumers’ court by not only inviting entries from them but also making them the judge of the final moniker for Project Caesar. The forthcoming Cyanogen powered device has already generated a lot of fanfare across social media platforms which resonated in the tremendous response received for #YUNameIt with more than 1,00,000 entries.
YU asked its social media followers to suggest a name for its upcoming Ceasar project smartphone. the five best names (Yuphoria, Yuknight, Yunicorn, Yunity and Youth.) where shortlisted and kept online for voting. The company said it received more than 1 lakh votes and it has named its upcoming Caesar project smartphone as per the fans decision through voting – “Yu Yuphoria.”
Recalling the scarce details we’ve heard about the device, Yuphoria will be equipped with a 64-bit processor along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage support. The handset will boast Cyanogen OS 12 based on Android Lollipop. The upcoming handset is also expected to cost higher than the first phone.
To add in more charm, YU has also announced that five randomly selected lucky winners from the entries for name Yuphoria would be given away with the new YU device. Also, many participants have won Amazon Gift Cards worth Rs 1 Lakh throughout the campaign.
Yuphoria is expected to be launched in India by the end of this month and is expected to be priced under Rs. 8,000.
