The company just added “2nd Gen” to the previous device names and kept the things simple. The new Moto G will be available to buy at Flipkart from today at Rs 12,999 for the 16 GB version. The company has also assured that the availability of the new Moto G will not be a headache for the consumers as they have launched the product with plenty of stocks. The devices will still be sold from online retailer Flipkart.
As far as the hardware of the device go, the new Moto G has a 720*1280 pixels 5 inch IPS display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass and a pixel density of 294 ppi. It has a Qualcomm MSM8226 Snapdragon 400 chipset clocked at 1.2 GHz on quad cores. The graphics processor on the device is a Adreno 305 which is clocked at 450 MHz. The device comes alongside with 1 GB of RAM and has capabilities to support a microSD card of upto 32 GB. The device is still with powered with a 2070 mAH battery which will somehow have a lesser battery backup because of the screen size.
The camera on the device has been upgraded to 8 MP autofocus camera with LED flash. On the front side of the device is a 2 MP fixed focus camera and a bunch of sensors which include ambient light sensor, gyroscope, magnetometer, ecompass, proximity sensor and more. The device from the front surprisingly looks like the Moto E instead of the previous Moto G because of the presence of the front facing dual speakers. For connectivity, the new Moto G supports dual-SIM, 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and microUSB.
The Moto G (2nd Gen) will ship with Android 4.4.4 Kitkat preinstalled with a guaranteed update to the next version of Android, the Android L.
